My ALS Ice Bucket Challenge (Cold Thermogenesis!) to Biohackers Dave Asprey and Jack Kruse

Rob (me) from Modern Life Survivalist took the ALS ice bucket challenge at the risk of harming my once-fragile immune system. It was very cold, but it didn’t cause weird symptoms, e.g., numb hands and fuzzy-feeling inner ears, like those I’ve experienced when abruptly jumping into cold showers in the past.

Even though they’re kind of famous and I don’t know them personally, I am passing this challenge on to my favorite biohackers Dave Asprey and Jack Kruse, because I think they should answer it considering they’re into cold thermogenesis anyway. This isn’t exactly cold thermogenesis, but it’s crudely reminiscent of it, in that it’s a sudden cold shock to the system at subfreezing temperatures. In any case, if Dave and Jack do this as we beseech them in this video, we can simultaneously raise awareness for Lou Gehrig’s disease and for biohacking and healthy living in general.

Healthy living and biohacks like cold thermogenesis actually are in my opinion a very helpful (if not the most helpful) strategy  in preventing neurodegenerative disease. We discussed this in the Bulletproof forum that is mentioned below, actually. Basically, a high-fat and low-carb diet is one of the most neuroprotective and regenerative defenses anyone can employ to this end.

Here’s an article on Bulletproof Executive that involves both Dave and Jack, the cold thermogenesis gurus:

Please also donate to the ALSA if you feel inclined and believe in their mission:

I have been spreading this around on the Bulletproof Executive forum, and at least one guy said he would do it and pass the challenge on to Dave Asprey. I think if enough Bulletproofers challenge Dave, he will have no choice but to do it!

The original deal (or blackmail chain letter, LOL) was that you have to do it or donate $50 to the ALSA. (I kind of did this video in order to avoid paying this monopoly-esque fee—I always calculated the 10% total property value when I got that Community Chest card, because it always paid off 😉
