Letter to the FCC Opposing Harmful EMF Legislation (DAS)

We need to stop this FCC initiative called Docket 16-421: STREAMLINING DEPLOYMENT OF SMALL CELL INFRASTRUCTURE. DAS will essentially put a cell tower on every street corner (as if they aren’t harmful enough looming over every neighborhood and over highways). I have a particular beef with cell towers and all wireless technologies because of negative health effects they’ve caused me. I started avoiding them as much as humanly possible a couple years ago, ditching my cell phone and wireless router, and switching to a wired router with a landline.

FCC Docket 16-421

“Streamlining Deployment of Small Cell Infrastructure by Improving Wireless Facility Siting Policies” Has Been Extended to March 8th!
FCC wants to “expedite the deployment of next generation wireless infrastructure” for 5G by preempting local government siting authority.  Comment by March 8th. Please comment and pass along to others.

Some excerpts from the notice:

In particular, many wireless providers are deploying small cells and distributed antenna systems (DAS)…..they must be deployed more densely – i.e., in many more locations – to function effectively. ..This trend in infrastructure deployment is expected to continue, and even accelerate, as wireless providers begin rolling out 5G services.4″ (Page 1)
DAS Nodes can be placed “on light stanchions, utility poles, building walls and rooftops, and other small structures either on private property or in the public rights of way” (Page 4 Footnotes)

“It is our responsibility to ensure that this deployment of network facilities does not become subject to delay caused by unnecessarily time-consuming and costly siting review processes that may be in conflict with the Communications Act.”
(Page 2)
“Section 332 also provides that state and local governments may not deny wireless facilities siting applications “on the basis of the environmental effects of radio frequency emissions,” a matter over which the Commission has exclusive jurisdiction.36″(Page 6)

Here is my response to that, which I have already submitted. I want all of us to send a message to these tyrants who are trying to bypass the will of local government and the people whom they represent. Find out how to do that below my letter.

I am writing to vehemently oppose the deployment of 5G technologies and to express my concern about any expedition thereof. Since being exposed to a great amount of mold in my home in 2012, I’ve had environmental sensitivities and exacerbated allergies. Somehow it seems to have resulted, in combination with constant cell phone use since I got one in 2002, in an intolerance for excessive microwave frequencies. Upon doing a lot of research regarding health effects from these things, I found that my symptoms of sleep problems, tinnitus, chronic fatigue, headaches, concentration, memory, learning and immune system problems, heart palpitations. nausea, joint pain, swelling of face, neck, eye problems, and rashes, all seemed to match with those experienced by people with similar exposures.

This is to be expected, as they are the same harmful frequencies used for the literal microwaving and cooking of foods. Just because they don’t heat tissues, doesn’t mean they aren’t harmful on a cellular level to biological functions (which many studies have shown them to be disruptive of). Countless studies on their non-heating and harmful physical effects can be found at http://www.emfanalysis.com/research. Even the WHO recognizes them as a Title IIB Carcinogen. Yet you continue to allow them to be proliferated without allowing the community decide whether it’s okay. It is not okay, just, OR beneficial.

To briefly get more specific about my experience, allow me to share how I figured out that these frequencies were immediately detrimental to me. I had been dealing with the mold exposure through diet and lifestyle changes, and found that I was getting much better. I used to have severe issues with indigestion, but then suddenly the post-meal experience was much better. I had gotten back into balance. About 6 months after things started to get better, I started to notice I was belching a lot after meals and experiencing very uncomfortable abdominal pain. Nothing else about my diet had changed. I tried everything including supplements and more yoga to help with the problem, but nothing made it go away. So I considered my environment. The only thing that had been new, I quickly realized, was an additional router that was now in our kitchen, instead of back in my parents’ room, which still had the original router. Also, the new router had 2 antennas broadcasting simultaneously for “better signal.” I immediately flipped it off to see how it made me feel. Immediately my symptoms subsided.

After I rinsed and repeated a few times (flipping on/off my router/cell phone to see the effects), I learned very quickly that I should simply use a wired router all the time. It was an extremely inconvenient transition, and I wouldn’t have done it if it wasn’t absolutely necessary. I have to come to believe after seeing the vast improvement on my health compared to when these devices are on, that no one should be exposed to these devices. So many are suffering from mysterious aches, pains, digestive disturbances, and obesity. From all I have read and observed, I can tell that this is a major epidemic.

We can easily use the preexisting (and incredibly convenient) infrastructure of wired fiber optic technologies to keep everyone connected. We also have old-school telephone lines that are still very useful. These should not be eliminated from the picture. Wireless should be eliminated, for the sake of our children. It is simply not worth it to provide a convenient solution for walking across the room or drilling a few holes to wire someone’s house up for Internet use. Please consider humanity, and especially the children.

I live right by a powerline on a major highway, so it seems that this legislation will eventually affect me. This is not okay. I will probably have to move to a safe place if you put a cell tower near me, to protect myself and my baby daughter especially. Finding a safe place is very difficult given my allergies and financial difficulties due to my condition. Please do not make my life harder than it already is. Do not allow this measure to pass. This is a DIRECT infringement on my rights as an American. Everyone deserves to be safe, especially from physical danger that they do not choose to put theirselves in. This is everyone’s planet, and it is everyone’s air that needs to be free from all kinds of pollution, including electromagnetic pollution.

Thank you for your consideration and time in attending to this extremely serious public health concern. I trust that you will act in the interest of the community, who already has sufficient access to powerful cell phone signals and efficient bandwidth. Such an endeavor just to increase the speed of connection just a little bit should not take precedence to definitive devastating health effects. There is simply not a question of whether to do this, but when and how to take even more measures to mitigate the effects of already existing towers.

Sincerely,
Rob Dahl

This is how you can do what I did. You don’t have to do anything elaborate. Just mention a few facts about your own experience and some studies/facts that you might know of. Feel free to paraphrase what I referenced.
